FAQs

What qualifications do I need to become an assessor?

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is the nationally recognised qualification for anyone wanting to be an Assessor.  It is a generic qualification which covers all occupations.

What are the Course Entry Requirements?

There are no entry or qualification requirements for the Assessor course.  We do, however, recommend that the online training route is best-suited to people with some experience of assessment.

What is the structure of this qualification?

The Level 3 Assessor Certificate comprises 3 units of competence:

  1. Understand principles and practice
  2. Assess occupational competence in the work environment
  3. Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

All 3 units are mandatory.

What do I have to do to get qualified?

  • 1 day training course
  • 4 practical assessments – the first assessment takes place on the training course day.
  • Gather evidence for your Portfolio of Evidence (with our personal support as required).

How is the Course Assessed?

You are assessed on the basis of a Portfolio of Evidence.  You will be allocated an Assessor who will support you through the process of gathering evidence for your portfolio.

How Long Does it Take to Get Qualified?

If getting qualified is a priority for you, it is possible to be certificated 3 weeks after you’ve completed the 1 day training course.

Who Awards the Certificates?

Your certificate is awarded by NCFE, a nationally-recognised Awarding Body for the Assessor, IQA and Trainer qualifications.

What does the course cost include?

The cost includes all pre-course preparation and materials, training, Awarding Body (NCFE) registration fee, Centre admin fee, portfolio, personal on-going support & guidance through to qualification, and certification.

Are there other Assessor Qualifications?

There are 3 other Assessor qualifications:

  1.  A theory-only qualification
  2. A 2-unit award which covers assessing in a work environment only
  3. A 2-unit award which covers assessing in a training environment only

We recommend the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (the 3-unit qualification) because it covers all of the above and will equip you to assess in different environments and using a wide range of assessment methods.  However, if you wish to pursue one of the above, please contact us for further details.
