FAQs
Who are the IQA courses aimed at?
The IQA Award (1-unit, knowledge-only)
This course is aimed at managers and staff who want to gain an understanding of internal quality assurance rather than practise as an IQA – it is a ‘theory-only’ introduction to internal quality assurance.
The IQA Award (2 units, for Practitioners)
This course is aimed at people practising (or wanting to practise) as an Internal Quality Assurer.
The IQA Certificate (3 units, for Lead IQAs)
This course is aimed at Lead IQAs who manage other IQAs.
What are the course entry requirements?
There are no qualification entry requirements for the IQA courses.
For the 2-Unit qualification, you will need to be able to observe 2 Assessors to gather the necessary evidence.
For the Lead IQA qualification, you will need to be in the role of Lead or Deputy Lead IQA and so managing other IQAs, to gather the necessary evidence.
If you are not already working with Assessors or IQAs, you can still do the single-Unit ‘knowledge only’ qualification.

What support do I receive from ATDirect?
Our training is delivered by real people in real time, so you can interact with your trainer and ask questions. This means training is more relevant and interesting, and can be adapted to your individual needs as you progress through the course … and is much more enjoyable! Your trainer also acts as your Assessor and will support you throughout the process through to certification.
How is the IQA course assessed?
You are assessed on the basis of a Portfolio of Evidence and a short, informal end-of-course discussion. Your Assessor will support you in gathering evidence for your Portfolio and will conduct the end-of-course discussion.
How long does it take to get qualified?
The pace of training is self-determined. If getting qualified is a priority for you, it is possible to complete all the work necessary in a few weeks.
We encourage all our clients to complete their qualification quickly while training is fresh in the mind and to avoid ‘drift’. However, if speed is not your priority, you have up to 1 year to complete the work before your registration expires.
