FAQs

Who is the Trainer course aimed at?

The Trainer course leads to an entry-level qualification for trainers/teachers who have just started to train/teach.  It is also suitable for Assessors who wish to achieve a trainer qualification – a qualified Assessor will be able to achieve this quickly as they are likely to get credit transfer for one unit.

What are the Course Entry Requirements?

There are no entry or qualification requirements for the Trainer course.  However, you should have a core level of communication, literacy and IT skills, and technical knowledge, appropriate for delivering training in your sector/occupation in the UK.

What is the structure of this qualification?

The Level 3 Trainer Award comprises 6 units of competence and you will need to complete 3 of them.  We recommend the units in bold):

First unit (mandatory):

  1. Understand roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

Second unit (select one of the following):

  1. Understanding and using inclusive teaching approaches in education and training
  2. Facilitate learning and development for individuals
  3. Facilitate learning and development in groups

Third unit (select one of the following):

  1. Understanding assessment in education and training
  2. Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (from the Assessor qualification)

What do I have to do to get qualified?

  • 1 day training course
  • 4 practical assessments – the first 2 assessments take place on the training course day.
  • Gather evidence for your Portfolio of Evidence (with our personal support as required).

How is the Course Assessed?

You are assessed on the basis of a Portfolio of Evidence.  You will be allocated an Assessor who will support you through the process of gathering evidence for your portfolio.

How Long Does it Take to Get Qualified?

If getting qualified is a priority for you, it is possible to be certificated 3 weeks after you’ve completed the 1 day training course.

Who Awards the Certificates?

Your certificate is awarded by NCFE, a nationally-recognised Awarding Body for the Assessor, IQA and Trainer qualifications.

What does the course cost include?

The cost includes all pre-course preparation and materials, training, Awarding Body (NCFE) registration fee, Centre admin fee, portfolio, personal on-going support & guidance through to qualification, and certification.

Whatever your occupation and wherever you are based, our friendly team will be happy to discuss your requirements and answer any questions
